A professional musician in RL for many years, Marky's live acoustic & electric sets are a spirited blend of Classic Rock & Pop, Ballads, Country, Blues and original material.

Marky has been playing live music for over 25 years. He honed his craft in various bands on the Scottish pub & club scene before moving south to London for a few years. He then moved to Copenhagen, Denmark where, in partnership with an american friend and songwriter, he began writing his own material. Now back living in Scotland, he has emerged with renewed energy and, in addition to a busy RL schedule, is now also bringing his acoustic set to live venues in Second Life.

New Live Act... Saintess Larnia

Saintess Larnia is a British musician who will captivate you by the very first note with her strong, powerful yet emotional voice. She has been singing all her life and is inspired by the likes of Eva Cassidy, Eric Clapton, Serena Ryder Heart and K T Tunstall.
She delivers acoustic covers to touch your heart and move your feet. She has begun writing and so far has written her first song. She has been told she has elements of Sheryl Crow in her voice but she has a distinctive voice that you will instantly know it is her right from the start. She has strength in her voice but never overpowers losing the emotional connection of the songs.

Mr U'Bar, trying to count to 3, and failing!

Now, I am not really someone to publically say what I think or feel about someone, but hey, I am Bloggy so I am going to say it! hehe

I first walked into the U'Bar about two and a half years ago, after being TPed by Matt. It was a small bar that seemed to be underwater. YES not in the sky but under the sea!
The Cher and Carm show was on, and they were talking about boobs, and sweets!
I giggled for about 3 hours, and it is one of my fondest memories of my time in SL.

He keeps my feet on the ground, and when I am about to do something stupid, I know I can ask his advice and he'll bring me back down to earth quick sharp. He's such a huge force in SL, that I can't imagine him not being here. He doesn't mix his words, and he is a massive stickler for detail, but that is how he has got to where he is today!

Congratulations Mr U'Bar and here's to another 3 years!

Midge turned 2 on Monday, so to celebrate our Rock DJ Ben, and also Midge's SL partner, threw her a party.

Ben was her personal DJ for the night, and fun and laughter was had by all!

Friday saw one of our hosts turning 1 in SL. Midge organised a party in the U'Bar to celebrate Temp's first rezday!

Fun was had by all with Poise making t-shirts with Temp's picture, and a flickr stream being made of Temp's first year in SL which was streamed to the bar all night.

That is such a tough question! I have quite an eclectic range of music..I love cheesy pop *see.. im not the only one!!* from the 60's through to the 80's, I loved Grunge and Britpop in the 90's and I'm really into electronica at the moment. Don't make me decide, my head will explode!

What was the first record you ever bought?

Why did you choose to be a DJ in SL? Wish fulfillment really. I can't do it in real life for various reasons.

Also.. our very own Bloggy.. Clurrrrr (thats Clare to those who dont know her well!) and Air.. have finally got partnered!... so huge congratulations to them also.

Commentary to major football games will be streamed live, plus other special sporting events.

It is exclusively for U'Bar group members only and can be accessed from a TP in the U'Bar.. just near the dancing lady on the wall.

So I gave her a few weeks to get settled, and now she is going to have the Spotlight treatment! The newest U'Bar hostess, answered the staff spotlight questions...so here is what she had to say.

1. Role and times you're usually in the U'Bar? Hostess... I usually work Thursday evenings from 6:00 - 8:00 SLT. I am often there not hosting at all different times.

2. Favourite SL object? I don't really have one.. There is way to much here to pic one favorite thing. Though I am leaning toward a 4x4 Off Road truck or a Little Deuce Coupe Hotrod =)

3. The CD you own that you would never admit to?
Hmm.... Tempest goes through her meager CD collection in my mind..... Tommy Hunter... anyone know him?

4. Food you would eat till the end of time, and the food you would never touch?
I love Beef - BBQ, pan fried, smoked, open fired, baked... maybe even raw if I know the farm it came from..
I will never touch brusell sprouts, liver, chic peas, my moms Thanksgiving Turkey

5. What super power would you have?
In RL we don't need any super powers.... The world is already screwed up enough as it is... time to take away some of the technologies and 'powers' and get more back to what people are meant to be. In SL we are already GODS... which can be unfortunate...

As for anything to add...I am me.. and that's who I am.. take it or fooking leave it..

1. If you could be a member of U'Bar staff for a day who would you be and why?

I would like to be any member of the team that pulls a late shift from a UK point of view - it would be nice to meet some of the folk who frequent The U Bar when I am tucked up in my bed snoring.

2. The best SL quote? There are many, but the best has to go to my friend Nymph, who says in her profile "The irony of a game named Second Life is that none of us has a First Life".

3. The cd that you own that you would never admit to? "Haunting Pan Pipe Favourites" - My God, what the hell was I thinking when I picked up that and paid money for it!

4. Favourite SL object. My Twisted Radar Hud - allows me to do good...and bad...things to people

5. Describe yourself in 5 words.

Honest, Friendly, Approachable, Sincere, Caring

6. Describe the most important person in your SL in 10 words.

Invasion of alts....

I got an email from Linden Labs late last night with some pictures asking me to distribute them on the blog. Every SL magazine, blog and newspaper has been asked to find these 3 avatars. They apparently are causing havoc all over the grid. Two of the culprits are thought to be in a relationship and were seen gyrating against each other! If you see them, DO NOT approach them...they have been known to swear gestures during intelligent discussions!

Gestures include:
FUCK OFF NOSEY
ANOTHER GAY MAN
AM UP T MA KNEES IN FUCKIN COW PAT
FILTHY FAGS!!

LL are very shocked and outraged and want them to know this sort of behaviour will NOT be tolerated! So if you know about the whereabouts of these 3 avatars, LL want to assure you they will take full action and all sightings and names are confidential.

Well.. he came, he saw, he farted!!! and what a "blast" it was!!

The Cher & Carm show went with a bang.. with Mr Methane live from the studio.. and in the Bar in SL... and considering it was his first time in SL he did really well, managing to keep up with the chat , dance and the general mania of a Cher & Carm show!

A great time was had by all..so on behalf of myself, Cher, all the staff and regulars at the bar I'd like to thank Mr Methane for coming along and joining the fun... and hope to see him in SL again sometime!

The U'Bar would like to send congratulations to WoopWoop and Jona who tied the knot (eventually!) on May 17th.

The wedding didnt go without its hiccups...the main one being that the wedding party were in one church... and the guests were in an entirely different place!!! but.. once that was sorted everyone had a great time then came back to the U'Bar for a boogy afterwards.

So we would all just like to wish WoopWoop and Jona all the very best for their future SL lives together.

We are very happy to announce the forthcoming wedding of two of our regulars.. WoopWoop and Jona who are to tie the SL knot this coming Sunday!

They are having a party afterwards at the U'Bar, very fitting seen as they met there :)

Woop and Jona have asked me to ask everyone to drop on in on Sunday 17th May between 4pm and 6pm SLT... so get on over and wish the happy couple all the very best.

Plus... they got cake!!!!

On behalf of everyone in the bar we wish them every happiness for the future.
